The 5 C's

Successfully delivering the power of being understood requires the people of RSM to go beyond being good listeners. Whether interacting with clients or each other, RSM’s people aim to be:
In the summer of 2017, firm leaders identified these five key behaviors that inform the way the people of RSM work with clients—and each other—to deliver services. “When we created the 5 C’s, we wanted our people and the firm to be thought of as first-choice advisors, meaning that whatever problem the client had, we were going to be one of the first phone calls they made for help,” says Bill Gorman, a senior partner.
“No matter what your position was in the firm, if your behaviors were consistent with the 5 C’s, then you were a first-choice advisor; you had the key characteristics that made us that first phone call.”
RSM’s 5 C’s were conceived as concrete, practical reminders of how to approach each task at hand. “If we show up asking questions, trying to understand the journey that our client is on, we will be much better at aligning our expertise and capabilities to help drive value. When we don’t exercise the 5 C’s—approaching every client opportunity with that as our north star—the only way we’re going to differentiate ourselves is on price. When we show up and flex our curiosity and our collaborative nature, that’s how we unlock the power of the enterprise, bringing the full power of RSM to the benefit of our clients,” says Don Lipari, enterprise leader for private equity.
RSM’s core values, its promise to deliver the power of being understood, its commitment to the 5 C’s and a century of strong leadership form the solid foundation for its future of exponential possibility.
