By the time Brian Becker became CEO in 2022, RSM had already become a far larger and more unified firm, and its people and partners were ready for what came next. The challenge was to make the firm’s scale even more powerful—by building more consistent processes, strengthening digital capabilities and creating a broader global platform for middle market clients.

That work began by further nationalizing the lines of business. Over time, RSM had brought assurance, tax and consulting into closer alignment so clients experienced one firm rather than a collection of strong but separate practices. Becker saw that effort as unfinished, especially as client expectations became more global. “There was a further evolution we needed to make, where our clients expected not just consistency and quality domestically but now expected it to happen globally,” he says.

The push to become more digital followed the same logic. It was not simply about technology investments, but about building a more scalable enterprise—one that could connect talent, knowledge and delivery more effectively across the organization. At the same time, teams in India and El Salvador became a more important part of the firm’s operating backbone, helping expand capacity, improve efficiency and support more consistent service across the business.

The defining move of this period was a transatlantic partnership. By the time Becker stepped into the CEO role, a large majority of the firm’s clients were already globally active. Becker saw the next phase clearly: RSM needed to preserve the strengths of its partner-owned model while building a model capable of delivering more seamless service across countries.

“That’s a journey we’ve been on—to deliver the same capabilities and client experience, not only in the United States, but across the world.”

That ambition converged with developments in the United Kingdom and Ireland, where RSM UK CEO Rob Donaldson was open to broader connections after joining forces with RSM Ireland. Becker and Donaldson began shaping a model that would bring together teams across the U.S., Canada, the UK and Ireland, while also integrating India and El Salvador into the broader enterprise. In October 2025, 99% of partners approved joining together in a transatlantic partnership. On Jan. 1, 2026, RSM US and RSM UK formed a new entity, RSM LLP. This partnership created a first-of-its-kind partner-owned enterprise spanning six countries and more than 23,000 professionals.

In that sense, “compelling, digital, global” describes the firm’s future as a more dynamic, digitally mature enterprise with global reach—purpose-built to serve the middle market on a broader stage than founder Ira B. McGladrey could ever have imagined, yet grounded in values he would surely recognize.
